Immigration psychological evaluations

I provide immigration psychological evaluations for individuals and families involved in immigration proceedings. Each evaluation includes a clinical interview, review of relevant records, and a written report describing psychological symptoms, functioning, and their relevance to the legal question before the court.

Evaluations are conducted with cultural sensitivity and care for the person in front of me. They are a clinical service, not legal advice, and I do not determine the outcome of a case.

Cases I evaluate

Extreme hardship

For waiver cases in which a qualifying relative would experience significant emotional, psychological, or family hardship if a loved one were removed or denied entry.

Asylum

A clinical evaluation documenting psychological symptoms and functioning consistent with the experiences described in an asylum claim.

VAWA (Violence Against Women Act)

Evaluation of the emotional and psychological effects of abuse for self-petitioning spouses, children, and parents.

U visa

Documentation of the mental and emotional impact of having been a victim of a qualifying crime.

Cancellation of removal

Evaluation addressing exceptional and extremely unusual hardship to qualifying family members.

How it works

From referral to report

    Attorney inquiry

    You reach out with the case type, filing timeline, and any relevant documents. I confirm availability and fee before we schedule.

  2. 02

    Clinical interview

    One or two sessions by secure video or phone, typically 90–120 minutes total, with an interpreter when needed.

  3. 03

    Record review and screening

    Review of the declaration, supporting records, and standardized screening measures where clinically appropriate.

  4. 04

    Written report

    A clear, well-organized report with clinical findings and their relevance to the legal standard, generally delivered within 10–14 business days. Expedited timelines can be arranged.

  5. 05

    Follow-up

    Clarification or addendum if requested by counsel. Testimony is arranged separately when required.

Practical details

What to know before you refer

Conducted by secure video for clients located in New York and New Jersey; phone sessions available when video is not workable.
Interpreters welcome and can be arranged by your office.
Private pay only. Immigration evaluations are not billed to insurance. Flat fee quoted in advance, with expedited options available.
Standard turnaround is 10–14 business days from the final interview and receipt of records.
Evaluation clients are seen for the evaluation only; this is a separate service from ongoing psychotherapy.
Records, declarations, and the completed report are handled confidentially and released only with written authorization.
